The specific data that can be monitored depends on the type of CNC controller on your machine and potentially which options are installed. FactoryWiz can monitor using any of the following methods:

Fanuc FOCAS

FOCAS and FOCAS2 are communication protocols that allow the FactoryWiz to get to virtually any information inside the CNC. Newer i-series Fanuc controls with embedded usually have the FOCAS option. All 30/31/32i-series and all 0iD-series controllers have FOCAS or FOCAS2. Many Fanuc 16/18/21i B-series controllers have FOCAS, but not all. Older i-series controllers such as the 16/18/21i A-series controllers are less likely to have FOCAS. If your CNC supports FOCAS, this is the most comprehensive monitoring data source available at this time.

MTConnect

MTConnect is a new standard for monitoring CNCs using a standard method among a variety of manufacturers. If your CNC supports MTConnect, FactoryWiz can collect data without installing any additional hardware or part program modification. The data provided by MTConnect will vary by CNC manufacturer, and exactly which fields are provided determines how much the FactoryWiz can display.

Haas MNet (and previously Haas Serial Monitoring)

Most Haas machines made in the last ten years have a serial monitoring protocol built in. The very latest Haas machines with Ethernet may have an additional data collection method called MNet. While the serial protocol requires the use of RYM's DNC system, MNet may be accessed directly through the network without a DNC system. In both cases, basic information can be gathered without additional hardware or part program modification.

Macro Commands

This usually means outputting data through the RS232 port, where it gets captured by a DNC system and forwarded on to the FactoryWiz. Using this method means that no data is collected unless those macro commands are executed while the CNC is running. This can be achieved by having your post-processor embed the commands into all part programs. Some commands can be embedded into other macros, such as the tool change macro. On many controllers (such as Fanuc, Yasnac, Haas, Mitsubishi, Mazak), the command used is the DPRNT command. This is often part of a macro option which must be enabled. Other controllers, such as the Fadal and Okuma, have other commands for the same functionality.
